AIM of the Group:
The aim of the
Rudhach Youth Voice Group is to help young people in the area of Point,
Isle of Lewis without distinction particularly on the grounds of race,
colour, religious beliefs, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, gender,
disability or age, that members may grow to full maturity as individuals
and members of society by:
a) giving young people opportunities for
enjoyable and constructive leisure time;
b) enabling young people to find new
interests and to form effective relationships with other people; and
encourage them to organise and conduct these activities themselves thus
learning to accept and handle responsibility.
OBJECTS: The objects
shall be:
· To plan and organise activities and
events for young people (to date we have organised a beetle
drive, a bag pack, helped out at a Halloween Party and a Burns Supper
within our community).
· To encourage others to improve services
for young people (we have written to the Bayble school
Parent Council to give our support against the closure of Bayble Secondary
school; we have written to the council complaining of the rubbish coming
ashore at the Braighe, we have spoken with a member of the transport
department to find out if we can have a say in any changes to the bus
timetable for our area).
· To encourage young people to voice their
opinions to decision-makers on matters which concern them (we have met with the local community council, local councillor
and MSP, in addition to the Scottish Youth Parliament, to air our views on
various issues).
·
To
encourage those who are socially excluded to become involved (we are always on the lookout for new members).
