RUDHACH YOUTH VOICE

 

Constitution of the Rudhach Youth Voice

 

 

NAME: The organisation will be known as RUDHACH YOUTH VOICE.

 

AIM of the Group:

 

The aim of the Rudhach Youth Voice Group is to help young people in the area of Point, Isle of Lewis without distinction particularly on the grounds of race, colour, religious beliefs, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, gender, disability or age, that members may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society by:

 

a)      giving young people opportunities for enjoyable and constructive leisure time;

b)      enabling young people to find new interests and to form effective relationships with other people; and encourage them to organise and conduct these activities themselves thus learning to accept and handle responsibility.

 

OBJECTS: The objects shall be:

 

  • To plan and organise activities and events for young people
  • To encourage others to improve services for young people
  • To encourage young people to voice their opinions to decision-makers on matters which concern them
  • To encourage those who are socially excluded to become involved.

 

MEMBERSHIP:

 

Membership of the group shall be open to all young people aged 12 + years, who live – or have previously lived – in the area of Point. Membership shall be agreed at AGM.

 

COMMITTEE:

 

The committee shall be responsible for the administration, management and control of the affairs of the group.  The committee shall consist of between four and fifteen members inclusive of office bearers. There will be whenever practicable male and female members.  The committee may co-opt up to five members throughout the year who will have no voting rights.  The committee shall be elected at an AGM.

 

OFFICE BEARERS:           

 

The office bearers of the group elected at the AGM shall be:

 

Chairperson, Vice-chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Events Co-ordinator and Advertising Co-ordinator and Committee Members.

 

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:

 

An AGM shall be held each year in the month of November for the purpose of receiving the Annual and Financial Reports, setting membership, election of committee, election of office bearers and appointment of independent examiner of accounts.  The AGM shall be notified to the public a minimum of 14 days before the day of the meeting.

 

SPECIAL MEETINGS:

 

A special meeting can be called for discussion of particular business. A minimum of seven days notice of the business to be discussed must be given to members.

 

PROCEDURE AT MEETINGS:

 

Any business required to be put to the vote shall be decided by a majority of those present.  The secretary shall take minutes of every meeting.  The Group leader shall type up the minutes for the following meeting.  The agenda shall be loosely set between members for forthcoming meeting.  The quorum for committee meetings shall be one third of the number elected.

 

FINANCE:

 

The treasurer shall keep books showing all income, expenditure and assets of the group.  The signature of any 2 office bearers, namely the Treasurer and Chairperson, shall be required to open and operate any bank account including the signing of cheques. A competent person appointed at AGM shall independently examine the accounts annually.

 

ALTERATIONS TO THE CONSTITUTION:

 

No change can be made to this constitution except by resolution approved at the AGM or special meeting of the group.  Notice of proposed changes to the constitution should be notified to members at least 7 days before the date of the meeting.

 

DISSOLUTION:

 

The group may be dissolved at AGM or special meeting. A minimum of 14 days notice should be given to members of the intention to dissolve.  Any assets of the group remaining after the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities shall not be paid or distributed among members of the organisation but shall be given or transferred to (a) recognised charitable organisation(s) having similar objectives.

 

ADOPTION OF CONSTITUTION:

 

This Constitution was adopted as the Constitution of Rudhach Youth Voice at a General Meeting convened at Aird Community Centre on Wednesday 16 January 2008.
